The Hall of Shame!

My decluttering has slowed somewhat, blogger friends. So I'm trying a new tactic.

I am posting a picture of the worst area in the house - the hall come study, kind of area. It's pretty disgusting, I have to say. Granted, this is the dumping ground for anything I have no home for - which is a lot as we have little to no storage space due to renovations (see wall frame in background). But it's no excuse. Obviously, I have far too much "stuff" to fit into the space I do have, so I need to get rid of it. There may be some *free to good home* ads here in the next couple of days!

Now I've shown you, I have to clean it up, right? Right. And you will all nag me until I post a picture of said area looking beautiful, clean and clutter-free! Promise me!

I'm getting ready to nag already. It's a special skill of mine.

Don't be too hard on yourself, though - doesn't everyone have one of these perpetually messy areas? It's hard to keep everything neat.

Our bedroom, because it was so large, became the dumping place for the excess of everything. Now that we have no children at home, we have a whole house to use as a dumping ground ... ha, ha.

So, is it clean yet?

Seriously though, that is a good idea and you should definitely try the three pile method. Keep - Donate - Trash

It works really well if you're objective about why you are keeping stuff.

Flossy... step away from the computer and declutter! LoL just kidding. When you finish your hall I have a guest room I call the pit that you can work on.

I'm sure you'll have that place looking spick and span in no time! It doesn't look that bad - I've seen much worse, I was once a cleaner!

You have fruit bats? How fantastic! We have bats in summer, if we stay out until dusk you can see them buzzing about narrowly missing ones head. They are truly spectacular creatures indeed :-)

Good luck with the spring clean! (You haven't seen our guest bedroom!)

Flossy if that is the worst there is, then you have nothing to worry about. Besides things always seem worse when you are renovating. Been there done that...lol. Just do a bit at a time. Set yourself a time limit - I will spend 30 minutes doing this section then I will take a break. At least then it doesn't seem like an overwhelming job.

Well, I'm getting there - I have cleared all the boxes on the left side, except for the box of books and the one full of filing (it's on the list!). I need a book case!
And the coffee table at the back on the right is almost done too. Just have to get to the computer desk - it accumulates sooo much clutter!

Back to it I go :)
